Down Below the Dam

    Ducks have two valves very close to each other in their legs. Blood on the way to a duck's foot cools and it warms as it comes back up and passes the warmer valve. As the foot gets colder the valve widens to allow more blood through.

    Thus, they don't freeze their tootsies!
