Our City Hall Looks Like a Birthday Cake!

It's an Architectural Confection!

There was a move to tear this down in the 70's.  Fortunately, saner heads prevailed.  It is now a designated Heritage Site.

But now they want to cut down the tree in front.  I love that tree...

Shakespeare Gardens

That Tower Is Surrounded By Flowers

On the location of the first gristmill in Stratford are the Shakespeare Gardens.  The tower from the gristmill remains today.

Farmers Market

Early Morning At The Market

The indoor market has been housed in a really cool old building for the last few years.  This is the roof.

We'll be moving into a brand-new building soon.  The roof won't leak and it'll be warm in the winter.  But it won't be nearly as charming.

Chess, Anyone?

Oh, Cabana Boy.....

There are chess tables set up downtown.  The umbrellas just add to the fun.

Park Towers

Youch!!!

An example of fairly nasty 1960's architecture.

The people in the apartments have a great view of parkland.

A Pretty Yellow Dress

Is It My Size?

The flash of yellow caught my eye.  A very pretty dress, in contrast to its industrial-looking surroundings.

Allis Chalmers

Who Is Allis Chalmers?

On display in the window of a local store.  A toy tractor made from old sewing machine parts.

The flag is flying atop city hall.

Flowerbeds

Pretty Colours In All That Concrete

The city has built flowerbeds into the sidewalks downtown.

Note the line of cars to the left...

Just Like Paris?

I Wonder What They're Thinking About?

We have a couple of gargoyles in Stratford.

The fact that they're sitting on a brand-new building does take away from their charm, a little.  But I reckon, in another 150 years or so, they'll have settled in nicely.

Two If By Sea

We Know How To Deal With a Noise Complaint....

This picture makes it look like we are well-equipped against an attack by sea.

Actually, that cannon is pointed straight at a very nice neighbourhood just across the river - a couple of hundred feet away.  Oh, I hope it's been disabled!

Look Up - Part 2

Look Up!

Sometimes the upper portion of a building is more interesting than what you find at street level.

Sometimes I just like to have my head in the clouds....

Stage Door

The Cool Kids' Entrance

My husband works at the Stratford Festival.  He gets to go in by the stage door.

I am, yes, a little bit jealous.

Canada Day

Canadian Flag

Yesterday was Canada Day (a national holiday).  Yesterday was also a City Daily Photo Theme Day.  The rules state only one photo a day.

Oh, the dilemmas I live with.....
